The Return of Town v Gown for 2012-13

The OUIHC Blues and the Oxford City Stars are pleased to annouce the return of the Town v Gown for the 2012-13 season.

In a repeat of the first game to ever be played in the Oxford Ice Rink, the Blues will face their local rivals the Oxford City Stars on Sunday the 11th of November. The match was last played in 2004 and has since taken a 7 year hiatus. The Stars currently have the lead in the town v gown series with 11 wins to the Blues' 3 with a further 3 matches ending in a draw. The return of the match will be great addition to the Blues' season, giving the new squad an opportunity to test themselves against a top quality side. 

Speaking about the fixture Blues Captain Christian Shepherd said: "The OUIHC are very pleased to see the return of this great tradition. It will be a fantastic event and is a testament to the increasing profile of hockey in Oxford as well as being a marker for the beginning of a new era of mutually beneficial relations between the Stars and the Blues". Oxford Stars Team Manager Cliff Jones said: "This fixture has a fine history and I'm sure it will capture the magination of the public from Oxford and beyond.”
